Replace Stocky-Era Workflows

Use this workflow to move the practical parts of a Stocky-era operation into BackstockOps while keeping Shopify as the source of truth for products, variants, locations, and inventory.

Plan Requirement

Starter can support limited supplier and mapping setup. Ops or higher is recommended for full supplier/mapping imports, purchase orders, stock counts, operational reports, and transfer planning. Growth is needed for forecast profiles and sales-history powered reports. Scale is needed for public API access and workflow roles.

Role Or Permission Requirement

Use a role that can manage suppliers, mappings, settings, imports, reports, and purchase orders. On Scale, configure BackstockOps workflow roles before handing operational access to the team.

App Path

Shopify Admin > Apps > BackstockOps > Stocky migration.

What Not To Claim

BackstockOps is not a full Stocky parity clone and is not an ERP replacement. Use BackstockOps for supplier-aware Shopify inventory operations: mapping, replenishment, purchase orders, receiving, stock counts, reports, transfer worksheets, settings, roles, approvals, audit, and public API access.

Recommended Workflow

Open Stocky migration.
If using a Stocky API key, test the key. BackstockOps uses it for the connection/import and does not store it as a long-term secret.
Import suppliers.
Import product-supplier mappings.
Import supplier PO CSV columns.
Import purchase order references if useful.
Import sales history if Growth reports or forecast profiles need it.
Review inferred supplier mapping suggestions.
Approve correct suggestions and dismiss incorrect suggestions.
Open Suppliers and spot-check supplier fields.
Open Replenishment and review supplier-aware recommendations.
Create a test draft PO and compare supplier output.
Run a stock count and review adjustment controls.
Open Reports and export a report CSV.
Configure Settings for roles, approvals, sync, reports, labels, purchase orders, and stock counts.

Shopify Read And Write Behavior

Migration writes BackstockOps operational records. It does not rewrite Shopify catalog or current inventory. Purchase order receiving and applied stock count adjustments are still the workflows that can update Shopify inventory.

Expected Success State

Suppliers, mappings, and supplier output formats are available; replenishment can recommend supplier-aware purchases; purchase orders can be drafted and received; reports and stock counts can be validated against the imported data.

Common Troubleshooting

Rows fail to import: review row-level errors and required columns.
A variant cannot be matched: confirm Shopify SKU/barcode and duplicate behavior.
A preferred supplier looks wrong: edit the supplier mapping.
Purchase order references are not live POs: treat them as history unless recreated as BackstockOps POs.
Sales reports still show data required: confirm sales history imported successfully.
