Manage BackstockOps Billing

Use Plans to understand which BackstockOps workflows are available for the store and what happens when billing is active, trialing, past due, cancelled, or plan-gated.

Plan Requirement

The Plans page itself is available to installed stores with app access. Feature access depends on the current plan and billing state.

Role Or Permission Requirement

Shopify app access is required to open BackstockOps. When workflow roles are enforced, users may need Owner/Admin or settings access to manage plan-related configuration, but plan approval happens through Shopify billing.

App Path

Shopify Admin > Apps > BackstockOps > Plans.

Direct app path: /app/plans.

Public Plan Names

  • Starter
  • Ops
  • Growth
  • Scale

Development stores may show test access. Trial stores can test broader workflows while billing is still in trial.

Practical Feature Access

Starter:

  • Supplier records
  • Core supplier SKU mappings
  • Basic recommendations
  • CSV import/export within Starter limits

Ops:

  • Purchase orders
  • Receiving
  • Stock counts
  • Operational reports
  • Transfer planning
  • Full supplier and mapping imports

Growth:

  • Forecast profiles
  • ABC analysis
  • Sales-history powered reports
  • Advanced email-sending options such as custom sending domain access where configured

Scale:

  • Public API access
  • BackstockOps workflow roles
  • Approval controls
  • Audit log access controls
  • Advanced workflow governance

Billing States

Active, trial, comped, and development billing states allow app access. Past-due or cancelled billing blocks billable workflows until billing is restored.

If a page is below the required plan, BackstockOps shows a plan prompt such as View Ops plan or a required=ops, required=growth, or required=scale Plans link.

How To Resolve A Plan Prompt

  1. Open Plans.
  2. Review the feature named by the prompt.
  3. Choose the plan that includes the workflow.
  4. Approve billing in Shopify if prompted.
  5. Return to BackstockOps.
  6. Reopen the workflow page.

Shopify Read And Write Behavior

BackstockOps reads billing and shop state to decide access. Plan approval is handled through Shopify billing. Changing plans does not rewrite Shopify products, variants, locations, inventory, or orders.

Expected Success State

The current plan and billing state allow the intended workflow, and plan-gated pages render the workspace instead of an upgrade prompt.

Common Troubleshooting

  • A feature is still locked after approval: refresh BackstockOps from Shopify Admin.
  • Billing was approved in the wrong store: open the intended store and check Plans there.
  • A trial store has import limits: some Starter limits can still apply during trial.
  • Past-due or cancelled billing blocks workflows even if the stored plan rank is high.
  • A staff member cannot manage billing: use a Shopify staff account with the needed billing authority.
